Common questions
Why do families use a private family trust?
A private family trust can hold family assets under agreed rules, help with succession without dividing the business, and separate family wealth from personal risks. Whether it suits a family depends on its assets, members and goals.
How is a private family trust taxed in India?
It depends on the type of trust. Broadly, a specific trust, where beneficiaries and their shares are fixed, is taxed in line with the beneficiaries, while a discretionary trust is generally taxed at the maximum marginal rate. The structure is chosen with this in mind.
Does TENVY give investment advice?
No. TENVY advises on the structure, tax, FEMA and accounting side of family wealth. It does not provide SEBI-regulated investment advice or recommend specific investments.
